Keychron launches Q1 Pro wireless keyboard Leave a comment

The new version of the Keychron Q1 keyboard is called Q1 Pro and features excellent wireless connectivity. The device retains all the features of the previous model, including a solid construction, replaceable keys, and a comfortable layout.

Keychron recently released a wireless version of one of its best keyboards, according to many critics. The new Q1 Pro looks very similar to the Q1, and this is not surprising because the device has retained all the features of the previous model. And the main difference between them is a stable Bluetooth connection with support for simultaneous pairing with three devices and a good battery that can last up to 300 hours without recharging. Of course, the developers also left the option of a wired connection via a removable USB cable. As they say: just in case.

In addition to the standard version, developers will release a keyboard without switches and keycaps. The device will also be available in black and gray.

Like other models from Keychron, the Bluetooth connection has its own peculiarities. This applies to the polling rate, which is 90 Hz in wireless mode, and the standard 1 kHz in wired mode. Such a difference, of course, is unlikely to allow you to play dynamic games using Bluetooth, but you will be able to type text, chat or search for something on the Internet. The device also has RGB lighting. It has a large palette of colors and different levels of brightness, and of course, it significantly reduces battery power consumption – from 300 to 90 hours (at minimum brightness).

Another important difference in the new Keychron Q1 Pro is the printed circuit board, made from polycarbonate rather than steel and aluminum, as in the Q1. According to the developers, it “improves the overall sound while typing.” The keyboard also features Keychron K Pro mechanical switches and will be available in three different versions: Red (linear), Brown (tactile), and Banana (tactile). The latest switches are similar to Panda switches in their tactile click.

As for the dimensions of the new keyboard, everything is standard here. The developers used the TKL form factor (75%), without a digital block. Therefore, the device is quite suitable for different laptops and can easily fit into a bag or backpack if you decide to take the keyboard with you on a trip. The VIA app is used to set up the Q1 Pro. It has all the necessary configs and even a toggle switch control function to adjust the volume.

The Keychron Q1 Pro also has a quick switch replacement system called Hot Swap. It supports 3-pin and 5-pin switches, and most importantly, it allows you to replace switches without soldering and special skills using a conventional puller. By the way, the developers have improved the compatibility of the device with third-party switches due to the “southern” orientation of the already installed switches.

The last important detail is keycaps. The novelty has caps made of PBT plastic, which are made by double molding. They are quite durable and well-protected from various deformations. Plus, Q1 Pro comes with additional keycaps for MacOS, due to which the keyboard can be used on Mac devices and, of course, Windows. Well, to change layouts, the device has a separate switch.
